Terminology of the Knowledgeware & Environment Settings (ナレッジの用語と環境設定)

*From my memo I was taking during my CATIA job training course in the Okinawa island, Japan

1. 用語 Terminology
1) Parameters
Parameters are features that define values in CATIA documents. Parameters that are defined when creating features are called "feature parameters", while parameters created by user are called "user parameters". "Relations" features are created when user parameters are created.

2) Relations
Relations of Knowledge features (formulas, check, rules, design tables) will be displayed in the tree.

3) Formulas
 A relation specifying a constraint on a parameter using 1-line statement.

4) Design table
Tables created from Excel or .text file Controls parameters. Design table can be created from the document parameters or from an external file.


2. 環境設定 Environment settings
1) 仕様ツリーのカスタマイズ Spec tree display customization (1)
Tools > Options > Infrastructure > Parts Infrastructure > Display (tab)
==> Check "Parameters" and "Relations"

2) 仕様ツリーのカスタマイズ Spec tree display customization (2)
Tools > Options > Infrastructure > Product Structure > Tree Customization
==> Set "Yes" for "Parameters" and "Relations".

3) 仕様ツリーのカスタマイズ Spec tree display customization (3)
Tools > Options > Parameters and measures > Knowlege (tab)
==> Check "With values" and "With formulas". Check "Automatically synchronize"

4) 仕様ツリーのカスタマイズ Spec tree display customization (4)
Tools > Options > Parameters and measures > Language (tab)
==> Check "load library for extensive language library"
(Note: This setting change requires you to re-launch CATIA.)
